Jermain Richards was found guilty in September of the murder of 20-year-old Alyssiah Marie Wiley of West Haven in the spring of 2013.
Two earlier trials ended with hung juries.
Wiley, a sophomore at Eastern Connecticut State University was last seen leaving campus with Richards on April 19, 2013.
That day, Wiley texted friends that she had broken up with Richards and was on her way back to campus, but she never returned.
Her partial remains were found 27 days later in a wooded area at the end of Quarry Road in Trumbull, about 2 miles from Richards' Bridgeport home.
No blood residue or physical evidence was presented at the trial to say where or when Wiley was killed.
The young woman's family and friends testified in court that Richards was jealous.
Richard's attorney said they plan to appeal.
